About the company

A well-established business in the Newtownabbey area is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its finance team on a maternity cover contract.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role across the month-end process, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and balance sheet reconciliations.

This is a varied and hands-on opportunity that would suit either a Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant looking to gain further exposure within a busy finance function and take ownership across a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation and posting of monthly financial journals
• Supporting the month-end and year-end accounts process
• Analysis of financial performance against budget, forecast and prior year
• Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
• Accruals and other month-end adjustments
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
• Assisting with statutory and regulatory reporting
• Supporting the annual external audit
• Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team
• Involvement in finance projects and process improvements
• Other ad-hoc duties as required

Requirements:

• Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Previous experience within a busy finance environment
• Strong month-end and reconciliation experience
• Excellent Excel and IT skills
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Previous ERP or finance systems experience would be advantageous
